1. "Keep away from water" in the FAQ. If the product page says "never tarnish" but the FAQ says keep it away from water, perfume and lotion, that's a coating.
2. "Gold tone" or "plated". Tone means colour, not metal. The colour is the part that wears off.
3. A short warranty. Many buyers say it ran out right before the flaking started. Then the only offer was to buy another one.
