Privacy policy

The short version: We only collect what we need to get your order to you, look after you afterwards, and run a small shop well. We never sell your information for money. You can see, correct or delete what we hold about you by writing to support@trybeaumont.com. You trusted us with your order, and we treat your information with the same care we'd want for our own.

Beaumont is run by Nordiccore AS (org. no. 935261546), Norway. For data protection law, Nordiccore AS is the "controller" of your personal information: the company responsible for it. This policy covers orderbeaumont.com, our emails, and any time you message us.

What we collect

  • Your details: name, email, phone number, and your shipping and billing address.
  • Your order: what you bought, what you added to your cart, and your order history.
  • Payment confirmation: whether a payment went through and how you paid. Your full card number goes straight to our payment provider; we never see it or store it.
  • Your account, if you create one: your login and preferences.
  • What you write to us: emails, chat and WhatsApp messages, and anything you attach.
  • For custom products: the photo and name of your cat, used only to make your piece.
  • How you use the site: your device, browser, rough location from your IP address, and which pages you visit, collected with cookies and similar technology.

Where it comes from

Mostly from you: when you order, create an account, sign up for emails or write to us. Some comes automatically from your device while you browse. And some comes from the companies that help us run the shop, such as our payment provider confirming a payment, or a carrier updating your tracking.

What we use it for

  • Getting your order to you: taking payment, packing, shipping and tracking.
  • Looking after you: answering your questions and keeping our promises, including the Pass-It-On Guarantee.
  • Keeping things safe: spotting fraud and protecting your account and payments.
  • Making the shop better: understanding which pages help and which don't.
  • Emails and ads, if you'd like them: we send marketing emails only if you sign up, and every one has an unsubscribe link. We also show ads on sites like Facebook and Instagram, sometimes based on what you looked at here. You can opt out of that at any time (see "Your choices" below).
  • Doing what the law asks: keeping accounting records, and answering valid legal requests.

Who we share it with

Only the people who help us do the above, and only what they need:

  • Shopify, which hosts our store and checkout. Shopify also runs some features across many stores; for those, Shopify is responsible for your data. You can read how at privacy.shopify.com.
  • Payment providers, such as Shopify Payments and PayPal, to take your payment safely.
  • The makers and warehouse who prepare your order, and the carriers who deliver it: they get your name, address and phone number so your parcel reaches you.
  • Microsoft, which hosts our support email.
  • Anthropic, the company behind the AI assistant Claude. Some of our replies to emails and messages are written with Claude's help. Your message is processed to help write the reply, and Anthropic does not use it to train its models. We never pretend an assistant is a person.
  • Meta (Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp), if you message us on WhatsApp, and to measure and show our ads.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it, or a new owner if the business is ever sold, who would have to keep this policy.

We never sell your information for money. Under some US state laws, showing you ads based on your browsing counts as "sharing", so we tell you about it plainly, and you can turn it off.

Your choices and your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • show you what we hold about you, or send you a copy you can take elsewhere,
  • correct anything that's wrong,
  • delete your information (we may have to keep order records the law requires, see below),
  • stop using it for marketing or targeted ads,
  • explain how we've used it.

Write to support@trybeaumont.com and we'll answer within 30 days, usually much sooner. We may ask you to confirm it's really you. You can also ask someone to make a request for you, with your permission. Using these rights never changes how we treat you.

To stop targeted ads, use our privacy choices page: orderbeaumont.com/pages/data-sharing-opt-out. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as that same request. To stop marketing emails, use the unsubscribe link in any of them; you'll still get emails about your orders.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, tell us first and we'll put it right. If we don't, you can complain to a data protection authority. In Norway that's Datatilsynet (datatilsynet.no); elsewhere in Europe, your local authority. In the US, some states also let you appeal our decision; reply to our answer and we'll review it.

Cookies

Cookies keep your cart working, remember your choices, and help us understand and measure our ads. You can block or delete them in your browser settings; the shop will still work, but your cart may forget what's in it.

How long we keep it

Only as long as we need it. Order and payment records are kept for as long as Norwegian accounting law requires, currently five years. Messages to us are kept while we're helping you and for a reasonable time afterwards, in case you write again. Custom-product photos are used to make your piece, not for anything else.

Keeping it safe

Your information sits with established providers who protect it with encryption and access controls, and only the people who need it can see it. No system is perfect, and if something ever went wrong that affected you, we'd tell you.

Information across borders

We're a Norwegian company serving customers mostly in the United States, and our providers work in several countries. When information leaves Europe, it's protected by approved safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Children

Our shop is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you think a child has given us their details, write to us and we'll delete them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top. If a change matters, we'll tell you clearly.

Questions
