Measure your cat curled up, nose to the base of the tail, and add roughly a hand's width. Small suits cats up to about 4 kg, medium up to 8 kg, large up to 10 kg. Between two sizes, the smaller one is usually the one it settles in.

Lift out the inner cushion and wash that separately. Spot-clean the rope body with a damp cloth and mild soap, then let it dry in shape. The rope basket itself should not go in the machine, as that is what breaks the coil.

It might not be. What changes the odds is placement and scent: put it in the room the household already uses, and leave something that smells of you or the cat in it for the first week. Cotton takes on scent in a way synthetic fibre does not.

The rope is natural cotton with no coating. Cats that habitually eat fabric should be supervised with any woven product. Occasional scratching at the rim is normal and does not unravel the coil.

Two small cats often will in the large size, but most pairs take turns. If both use it daily, a second basket ends the standoff faster than a bigger one does.
